Well, youve come a long way since you first stood by the mailbox outside the house in the forest. Youve defeated the thief, outwitted the wizard of frobozz, and now, you stand at the foot of the endless stairs, ready to embark on the final part of your journey. So, pick up the lamp, turn it on, and head along due s until you come to the shore of the lake. Drop the lamp , and jump into the lake. Brrrr! pretty cold! so, dont stay in there long; swim w and then go s .
Get the torch, and wait for the number to change to "ii." then, touch the table. My oh my! youre in a room from zork ii... Room 8, as a matter of fact. However, you dont have much time to sight-see, so get the can of grue repellent, then try moving e, and you will find yourself back in scenic vista again. Now wait for the number to change to "iii," then touch the table again. This time, youre in a damp passage. Drop the torch, and just wait there until youre pulled back to scenic vista. Okay, youre finished here, so move along n to the shore, and again jump in the lake.
Splash! it hasnt gotten any warmer; in fact, you just dropped the can of repellent. So, go down, and you will be on the lake bottom. Ah, there it is! but, could there be something else there, too? "get all," and you will have not only the repellent but also an amulet. This is one of those "wonderful" variable things; it may take more than one try on your part to get both items. In the meantime, you cant stay in the icy waters too long, and sooner or later a hungry fish will come looking for you. Therefore, its best to save the game before you jump in from the wern shore. So if you die in the water, or get eaten by the fish, or picked up by the roc , you dont have to start all the way back at the beginning. By the way, this is the only one of the zorks where you dont lose points if you die. But, all the items youve collected so far get scattered all around, and its time-consuming to go look for them.
Okay, now you have the can and the amulet, so head up to the surface, then s to the sern shore. You can see a cave to the s, and it looks kind of dark. In fact, it *is* dark in there, which is why you have the repellent. So, spray the smelly stuff on yourself, and go s, and you will find yourself in a dark place. Go s again, then e, and you will be in the key room. Whew! at le theres"some light in here! and by the light you can see a strange key. Lged the key, then move the manhole cover and go down. Here you are on an aqueduct. Since you cant go back , you might as well go forward. So, just head along n and you will come to the water slide.
Go n down the slide, and guess where you are? in the damp passage! theres the torch, so pick it up, because youre certainly going to need a light source...especially when you think of where youre going next. So, from the damp passage hike along w to the junction , then s into creepy crawl, and sw into the shadow land. Here we come to another variable portion of the game. You will have to wander around in the shadow land until a cloaked and hooded figure appears. When that happens, the sword will suddenly materialize in your hand, and you will be able to fight. However, since theres no way of telling when that will happen, you just have to keep moving around until it does.
At le you will get a chance to practice some elementary map-making! also, this is the most dangerous part of the game, as the figure is quite capable of killing you, too! so, best to save before you enter shadow land. When the mysterious figure finally appears, attack him with your sword until he is badly wounded and cannot defend himself. At that point, get his hood. The figure will then disappear, leaving the cloak behind. Get that also. Now, you have to get out of here, and i cant tell you exactly how, since theres no way of knowing exactly where you were when the fight started. However, if you go ewards, you will exit the shadow land at either the creepy crawl or the foggy room. From either place, go n to the junction. From the junction, its w through the barren area, and w again .
You just cant wait to climb down the rope, huh? well, pick up the bread first, then go down to the ledge. Well, well, a chest! too bad you dont have a key to open it. In fact, theres no way for you to open it at all. But dont despair, theres a way of doing it. Just wait around and someone will come along the top of the cliff. You may not really trust him, but tie the rope to the chest when he asks, and wait around some more. Eventually, he will return and help you back up the cliff. He will also give you a staff, which is what youre really after here. Take the staff, then go back down to the ledge, and from there, to the cliff base.
Trek s to the flathead ocean, and do a little more waiting. Sooner or later a ship will okay, now w, w, w, n, n, n, e, e, and push the s wall two times.
08. From there, w, s, s, e, e, n and push the w wall two times.
09 . Now, s, w, and push the n wall until it wont move any more.
10. Then w and n. Finally! you have maneuvered the ladder under the hole
, and now you can just go up and out! whew!
okay, youve solved the royal puzzle and you have the book, so go n to the museum entrance, then open the e door and get your other stuff from the jewel room. Then its back w to the great door, and from there back to the junction. Now, e into the damp passage, and ne to the engravings roam. Well, we have here yet another of those variable events: sooner or later, an old man will be sleeping here. If he isnt there the first time you arrive, walk around a little and return. When you finally do see him, wake him up and give him the bread. He will eat it and then make visible to you a secret door. He will then vanish.
Okay, youre getting closer to the end! open the door, and go into the button room, then n to the beam room. Put the sword in the beam, then go back to the button room and push the button. Now, back n to the beam room and n again into the mirror room. There will be an opening in the mirror, so go n one more time, and you will be inside. Now, dont let the long and complicated descriptions scare you! its not really as bad as you think . First, raise the short pole. Then, push the white panel twice. Now, push the pine panel, and go n.
Okay, so here you are, standing a little too close for comfort to the guardians of zork. If i were you, i wouldnt try going past them quite yet! open the vial, then drink the liquid. While nothing seems to have happened, you have in fact become invisible. Now you can walk n until you come to the locked door. Knock on the door, and the dungeon master will open it and let you in. All right, hang in there, you have reached the end game! go n, then w, then n again. The dm will be following you. Go n to the parapet, set the dial to 4, and push the button. Now, go s, open the cell door, and step inside. The dm will not follow you in.
Once inside, you will notice a bronze door in one of the walls. However, you cant open it yet! something else has to be done, and it will have to be done by someone else. So, first tell the dm to go to the parapet. Then tell him to turn the dial to 1, and then tell him to push the button. All right!! the magic moment has arrived! unlock the bronze door with the key, open the door, and go s! ** ta da!! ** finally, zork is finished! you have survived all the perils, pitfalls, and puzzles, and now, *you* are the new dungeon master.

Freeplay Mode

At the title screen press X + Y + Z. You will read the words "Freeplay mode" at the bottom-left side of the screen. What this code does is it disables pausing during the game. It also changes the words "LICENSED BY SEGA" etc. at the title screen to a different font.
Hidden Options Menu

At the Title Screen, press UP 12 times, then press START.. Go into Options and move the cursor off the bottom of the screen to uncover the Hidden Menu.
Add Dural to Records Screen and Vs. Mode

Unlock Battle Mode

Play as Dural

The last digit in your characters total wins needs to be a 9 (9, 39, 109, etc.) for this to work. When you reach Durals stage in Arcade Mode his eyes will glow purple.

Durals Musical Alternates
Reach Durals stage in Arcade Mode in under 9 minutes to hear one tune and in over 9 minutes to hear the alternate play in the background.

Stealth Dural
To fight against a transparent Dural in Arcade Mode you need to reach Durals Stage within the time limit of the following formula: Number of Rounds X 2 + 2 Minutes. Ex: If you fight 2 round matches, you need to reach the Dural stage in under 6 minutes (2X2+2=6).

Unlock Training stage 4
Reach Sega Area Midtown in Quest Mode to unlock. To select, go to the Vs. Mode and move the cursor to the left until it is off the stage list. Then press X to select.

Unlock Training stage 3
Reach Club Sega Plant Area in Quest Mode to unlock. To select, go to the Vs. Mode and move the cursor to the left until it is off the stage list. Then press X to select.

Jefferys train
Enter traning mode, select Jeffry as your character and choose anyone as your opponent. Hold the start button while selecting the desert stage (this gives you the desert with a city background). Perform Jefferys Toe Kick-Splash Mountain (Down+K - D,DF,F,Guard+Punch). Shortly after the move is performed, a floating Subway train will fly across the sky. Use the Escape button to move around and find it. You may have to perform the move more than once to get it to work.

Get hit by the subway train
To do this you have to select a character that can turn his back to his opponent fast, then select the Subway stage (Sarahs). When it says "Fight", turn around quickly and RUN towards the TRAIN. If done correctly you will be smashed like a bug. Now you have lost almost all your energy, one more hit and you`re dead.

Remixed Opening Sountrack
To change Opening Soundtrack to where you hear alternate music tracks during the games opening cinemas, yould simply press and hold START on both the first and second player at the screen that shows the sega logo. Keep holding both start buttons until you hear the music begin to play.

In training, normal or team battle mode you can change the backgrounds to the orginal arcade versions by letting the time runout in the stage select screen.

Choose VS modeand have a player choose either Kage or Jackie. Have Kage or Jackie defeat his opponent with a perfect. Immediately after the announcer says "K.O", have hold Guard, Punch, Escape, and Down on the contoller, for the victory pose. Easy Best Exhibit Design award

When you make an exhibit, place three large rocks (which satisfy most animals, but not all --the warthog which is happier with more) and put all the foliage in one corner and a few others scattered through the exhibit but quite a bit apart. If you clump it all in one corner, once the animals are in the green bar with happiness, with thier foliage stop. Doing this with two or three exhibits will easily win you the award.

Stop guests from shocking themselves and cure crowding

It can be a nuisance when the guests leave because they ran into one of your electric fences. To stop this at the expense of a little money, before you make a fence for a new exhibit, outline the area with a decoration fence (which are usually at the bottom of the fence list). Make sure it is facing outwards, not towards the exhibit. Otherwise, when you make the fence too close it will build directly over the decoration fence. When you make the normal fence for the exhibit, face it inwards and they should be almost in the same location. Make sure there is a hole in the decorative fence for the entrance to the exhibit. Once this is done, not only will the guests no longer shock themselves but they also will not be crowding the animals. Note: This will not work from the inside. Even with decorative fences inside, the animals will not only be enraged but will still shock themselves by simply trampling it.

Easy fence repair

Instead of waiting for a maintenance worker, just buy the same kind of fence and replace the deteriorating part. If you are low on money, pick up the worker and move him to the fence. However, there is no guarantee he will work on it -- they will just walk away.

In the mission where you rescue Robin and you get your Orbital Frame, go to the factory with Edge. Then put any LEV directly in front of where Ned will appear. When Mebius appears, she will be behind the LEV so she will not be next to Ned, but she will use Split Sword anyway, which would not normally happen. This can also happen in other instances if you have completed the game and know where to mess with the game.

In the Arizona stage, blow up the observatory. Then wait near the crater and youll see a huge meteor smash into it.Blow up the meteor and an alien that shoots laser beams will come out. Once you kill it another meteor will appear and the process keeps repeating.

Then you will be shot into the air and dropped. there will be anything from specials to radar jammers. You can do this as many times as you want. (NOTE:this trick will not work if the tower is gone!)

Avalanche at the Ski Resort
Shoot down any three trees on one side and an avalanche will occur. This works well when people are by the trees.

Change the Soundtrack
If youd like to listen to something different, replace the Vigilante 8 CD with your favorite music CD after youve started a level.

Machine Gun Trick
If you have an autofire joystick you can increase the damage done with the machine gun. Set R2 to autofire when the button is pressed. This will enable a steady stream of bullets without overheating the gun. Your enemies dont have a chance!

Turbos
To activate this code press up-up-up-machine gun.Costs one homing missle. When you do this a homing missile will latch onto the side of your vehicle and you will travel at the same speed as the missile.

Playing Tip
Choose to be the UFO on the secret base level. Go into the top secret area(the place where all the lasers shoot you.) Start at one end of the big building and drive straight through. If you shoot above the missle launcher a missile comes out and shoots your targeted opponent. You can do this as many times as you want at either end.

Roadkill Mines
To activate this attack press Left, Right, Down, MachineGun. This costs only two mines.

Note: This mine is invisible until you or an opponent gets close enough. These mines hold you for about 10-15 seconds before detonating. You can get away only if you are driving at top speed in one of the three fastest cars.

Special Attack Tip
Having a problem entering special attacks with the analog controller? There is an easy way to solve this problem. Go to options. Go to controller one (or whichever controller you are using). Set the digital pad "up" button to "Accelerate" and set the "down" button to "brake". Now you can steer with the analog and enter most of the special atacks with the digital pad!

Whirling Blades at Farm
When you go to the farm level, shoot at the big windmill towers. When they fall, the blades will pop off and chase the nearest car.

Ski Lift, Blimp and Bomber secrets
On the ski level go to the bottom of the hill and enter the lodge doors, your car will get onto the lift and it will take you to the top of the mountain. This works the other way as well.

In the Las Vegas level you can find the blimp flying over, watch where it lands then enter the door that opens. It will take off and allow you to fly it over the city, get over a building and wait until it drops you on the roof.

In the airplane graveyard you can drive your car between the flight tower and electric polls. The flight towers are located at each corner of the level, they are the towers with the flag on the roof. This will cause the B-52 bombers to come out and bomb your opponents.

In the farm level you can shoot the valves beside the water canal, then a huge wave will go through the canal damaging any car trapped in the canal.

In the secret military level you can shoot the ladders beside the stealth bombers, then go over to where the satelitte dishes are located and drive by the red and green lights to make the bombers hit your opponet.

On the hover dam level you can hit the switch in front og the dam by the water to make an electric burst of energy go through the water zapping your opponent.

In the Canyonland level, get in the middle of the circle of rocks. A gold beam will come down and teleport you elsewhere.

On the level Sand Factory at one of the load things that a truck would pull in to load sand in the back of it you can shoot at one of the poles with the machine gun only once. An elevator will lower and you can get on it. This is an easy way to get on the upper levels. Search around for the loader!

On the snow resort level shoot 3 large trees to cause an avalanche! Boulders will start to roll down the slopes!

Launch missle at Area 51
Start a game on the Area 51 level. Go through the gate(past the lasers) to the building. Drive "through" one side of the building. When you come out the other side, drive around the square and go under the two lights(one should already be green from driving through the building)Driving under the lights will turn the 2nd light green and the missle will launch at the enemy you have targeted

In the Casino City, youll see a blimp flying around. Wait for it to land and when the back hatch opens, drive in. It closes and takes off. You can steer it, but cant go up and down. If youre flying over a building with cool power-ups, push Accelerate and you fall out. Watch out because if one of you opponents has heat-seekers or something and they shoot it, it will hit the blimp and the blimp will explode and you dont get it back.
